Once the placenta has been delivered to your home I ask that your contact person call me (if this is what was set up prior). Usually I work out the details of encapsulation with this person. When I arrive to begin preparation of your placenta I will begin by disinfecting your counter tops, and any surface that the placenta may come into contact with. Once the areas are disinfected, I place wax paper on any counter top that I will be using. This helps ensure the placenta doesn’t come into contact with anything other than the bowl used to clean it, the pan used to steam it and the cutting board. This protects you from potential bacteria that the placenta may have picked up. Should the placenta come into contact with bacteria prior to my arrival the steaming process will kill the bacteria.
The only thing I need from you is the placenta, the use of your kitchen and one bathroom. I will be using counter top space, your stove, kitchen sinks, and your bathroom. The water used to prepare your placenta must be placed in your commode, per OSHA, FDA and EPA standards.
I begin by preparing the placenta for steaming. After preparation your placenta will be steamed and then cut into strips and placed in the dehydrator. It must dehydrate for about 9-10 hours. This step takes approximately 1 1/2 - 2 hours.
Once the placenta has complete dehydrating, I will return to complete the encapsulation process. I begin by
disinfecting all surfaces used, including you stove top and kitchen sink(s). Most of the time your kitchen will be cleaner when I leave than it was when I arrived.
When I return I will grind the placenta into a powder and place it in the capsules. The only thing the capsules contain is your placenta. There are no additives or preservatives added to the placenta. This takes about 1 – 2 hours.
Please keep in mind that I follow all FDA, EPA, and OSHA standards for handling and preparation of your placenta. This is not the case with all encapsulation specialists. You may find someone willing to do it for a lesser fee however I suggest you ask yourself if the risk is worth saving a few dollars.
